That a variety has survived is thanks to the selection that growers have maintained over the years.

That is to say they choose the parts of the most productive or best quality vines and took cuttings to be able to clone their best qualities.

Today this is a high-tech process, as different varieties and different clones of the same varieties are crossed to obtain new clones that produce higher quality grapes and above all, better resistance to plagues and insects.
